Zoe: Adopted by Helen
It was 29th December 1995 Zoe came into out lives, we adopted her at the age of 2. To start with she was very wary, you couldn't touch her without being bitten or hissing at. Then out of the blue 2 and a half years later she must have decided we weren't too bad and came and sat on my lap.

From then on you would always find her in a sunny spot be it the shed roof, garden bench or the window ledge. Things were going really well the children came along and they were great always found time to play with their little mate, on their beds she would creep to have a crafty sleep. She was so purrfectly happy. Then in September 2005 her health did take a dive, over active thyroid was diagnosed. Not too bad the vet said we can control it with medication.

We started the course and within a week or so the treatment wasn't going so well, the tablets were not agreeing with her, every 4 weeks I'd take her for a blood test to check the thyroid levels and kidney function and to add to it all her blood pressure was high too. I tried so hard to do all I could for her, but she was still wasting away before my eyes. The last blood test confirmed she was in kidney failure and her weight had fallen to 6lb.
A steroid injection was our last hope but it was all in vain, Monday 27th February my baby passed away. I miss her so much yet I take comfort in knowing I did my very best. she had 10 great years of love and devotion. Helen Walton, 5/3/2006.
