Maddie: Adopted by Alison
My name is Alison Haywood. I homed two kittens from you March 2004. Tabbies, full of life and mischief. I named them Maddie and Jasper. About 6 weeks ago Maddie became very ill. She lost the stability on her legs, and her appetite came and went. Immediately i took her to the vets, who initially thought it was some kind of infection.
She had antibiotics, and an anti-inflammatory jab. She seemed to recover and then went ill again within one week. Again i took her straight to the vets, she had the same immediate treatment then it was recommended that i took her to a specialist. This i did. Unfortunately the news was not good. He thought it was either FIP or a multi-tumour cancer, so the prognosis for both of these wasn't good.
After undergoing a Spinal Tap. The results showed that Maddie had FIP. (We hadn't even heard of this before the specialist mentioned it and we were very distraught at the prospect of what had to be done). When i went to see her, for the last time, her condition had deteriorated greatly. It was very clear that there was no other option than to have her put to sleep. This was recommended by the specialist also. It has been an extremely sad time for us.
She was just 18 months old. We have had Jasper tested and he is clear. He obviously misses having another cat to scamp with. In time i think we will have another. I will be in touch when we are ready for another cat. Maddie's spirit is very much felt in the house. She was such a beautiful cat. I have attached a picture for you. Best Regards, Alison Haywood.
There are no new mature cats available for the moment, although we have plenty of feral cats that need a good home.
