Dylan: Adopted by Clare
After wanting a cat for many years, we decided that it was time to get one. We wanted a ginger kitten and were delighted to find such a beautiful kitten aged 8 weeks at Wellcat. We all adored him from the start and he purred constantly as soon as he got home.
He soon became part of the family and joined in all our activities - he had more Christmas presents around the tree than our six year-old twins! He loved joining in all the children's games, especially chasing toy cars and sitting on and trying to eat playing cards. When he was tiny he loved to sleep in the crook of our arms and was fascinated by water, always trying to get in the bath or shower! He had a bell round his neck and always came running whenever we called, we really miss that sound.
He loved to go outside most of all and had a wonderful time roaming the fields behind our house and watching the world from the conservatory roof. We tried to make sure he was safe, by micro chipping him and giving him a flashing light on his collar when he went out in the evening. Sadly this wasn't enough and he struggled out of my arms last Thursday afternoon and ran back into the path of a car.
He carried on running in fright and hid and although we searched all night we could not find him until the next morning when it was too late. He died aged only seven months. We hope he did not suffer. We have buried him in our garden and will plant a memorial to him.
He has left such an empty space in our lives and we are so sad that he died aged only seven months. We were looking forward to Dylan enjoying the summer sun and growing up into an adult cat. Clare Mills, 24/01/2005.
There are no new mature cats available for the moment, although we have plenty of feral cats that need a good home.
