Freddie: Adopted by Shirley and Pete
Message for Pauline and friends. We had Jack (large black and very handsome) from you in 2001 and he was a much loved member of the household. He'd spent 3 months with you and I could never bear to send him to a cattery when we went on holiday in case he thought we'd left him so we always had a house sitter. Despite me wanting a cat it was Pete he adopted.
He was very bossy when he wanted something, jumping on his lap and pushing his hands off the computer keys so he could be fussed. Graceful, he was not, you'd think the fence was coming down when he climbed over. Provided he was near someone he was happy but he didn't like other cats. Sadly he developed a tumour on his spine and we lost him in November. We had a family discussion and decided we should have another cat as soon as possible. We asked for a large male cat and you suggested Freddie.
He's not that big but when we saw him we fell in love. I should first tell you that he has adopted the girls. We told the girls to leave him alone to start with so he could settle in but Claire, Emma and Freddie had other ideas and we soon realised that he wanted attention not peace. He followed the girls around from day one and there was no shortage of attention. He's taken a little persuasion to even sit on the settee but will snuggle up happily on Claire or Emma's bed especially when they are in it (photograph attached).
His favourite pastimes are staring at Emma's mouse, cuddles, dozing on the bed all day, playing with string and demanding food. On the last one, he hasn't shut up since we had him, vocal is not the word. He wakes the family up in the morning one by one and his loud demands have to be met immediately but the girls are really much happier being woken up by the cat than by me.
Sadly, he doesn't understand weekends and school holidays but he is getting better. He looks sleek and shiny and spends lots of time grooming himself. The lads came back from University and loved him, apart from the fact that he is so noisy. In short, he is now a part of the family and we love him to bits. Shirley, Pete, Emma, Claire, Mark and Ben Thomas.
There are no new mature cats available for the moment, although we have plenty of feral cats that need a good home.
