Buffy and Zeekie: Adopted by Ros and Dave
Dear Wellcat, In Jan 2006, my fella Dave and I came over to see you in the hope of finding a couple of lovely cats. We weren't fussy as to age or sex, just any two cats that needed to stay together. After looking at loads of wonderful cats, we decided to take two 5 year old sisters, Buzz and Zeeke.
They were quite nervous for the first couple days, affectionate but wary, especially of loud noises. After a few days, they got more used to us, and we to them. We changed Buzz's name to Buffy - not due to the vampire slayer, but because she buffs against any surface she can find! Doors, cupboards, slippers, books...you name it, she'll buff it! Zeke's more affectionately known as Zeekie (not a big name change there). She loves to stare out of the window and see who's doing what.
Well, it's been a week and a bit now, and they've both settled in wonderfully. They're happy to run around the house like loons, chasing each other, or curl up on the bed and have a long nap. Yesterday they were curled up on the sofa, grooming each other. It was so cute! Oh, and they're perfectly trained! They don't claw the furniture but use the scratching post we bought; they even sleep in their cat bed! They seem too good to be true!
Today for the first time, Zeekie came and sat on my lap and went to sleep - aww! It was wonderful. I hope it'll become a regular occurrence! We enjoy being woken up in the morning with a great big purr (our new furry alarm clocks!), and being welcomed home in the evening with a happy meow, purr and buff. So, thank you for allowing us to have two wonderful pets. We love them dearly! Here's a picture of them asleep in their bed - what cuties! Buffy's black and white, Zeekie's the tortie. There are no new mature cats available for the moment, although we have plenty of feral cats that need a good home.
