Fundraising
Wellcat's Commitments to Raise Funds
Fund-raising ideas and Ways to Help - We have recently opened a
number of new cat runs which has allowed us to house more abandoned
and sick cats. Despite this, we still need extra space to house the
large numbers of cats that we care for both long term and short term
until they can be rehomed.
We are always desperately seeking ways to raise the
money required to continue our work. Caring for such a large number
of cats and kittens is costly. If you have any good fundraising ideas
or you would like to make a cash or food donation, please give us a
call. We also hold regular car boot sales so any unwanted items (such
as books, videos and CDs) are gratefully received. Please call us
first before dropping off any items.
Every little helps
So we can continue providing care and shelter for these cats and
kittens. More cat mouths to feed mean we have an increase in costs.
During this time, we are always in urgent need of donations of tuna,
pilchards, kitten food and cat milk to feed the little ones. Old
newspapers are always urgently required for the litter trays. Running
Wellcat is only made possible by the generosity and kindness of the
public who help provide the funds, food and other items we require to
continually care for the large number of cats each year as they wait
for a home. Any help you can provide, however small, to allow us to
continue running Wellcat would be gratefully received. You can help
us by fostering or temporary rehoming some of our cats and kittens.

With vets' bills and food, cleaning materials, heating and medicine
costs to find, it is very expensive to run Wellcat.
Medicines, Vaccinations and Finances
In previous times it has been possible for us to purchase our medications and vaccines from abroad, allowing us to save a lot of money on the standard UK veterinary medication fees but as of February, 2006 this avenue has now been closed. There has been major changes in E.U. regulations resulting in an increase in our monthly veterinary bills by approximately 48%. This really is a crippling blow. The Evening Mail is being extremely kind by highlighting our plight in order to help us raise money to cover these additional costs. If you can help in any way, no matter how small, we would be extremely grateful (as would our cats and kittens that you would be helping!).
Actively assisting
As a charity relying on donations and with around 100 cats cared for at any one time, food and veterinary bills alone run at around £300 plus per week. The number of cats that we care for usually increases during summer months due to the kittening season. Please visit the 'Ways to Help' page for more information and ways that you can actively assist or donate.
There are no new mature cats available for the moment, although we have plenty of feral cats that need a good home.
