Declan Has Been Rehomed!
Declan has gone to a wonderful home in Brindley Place
Declan has finally made the 'After Wellcat'
page. He has gone to a wonderful home, an apartment in Brindley
Place. His new owner has even converted the balcony area to provide
him with outside access.
We wish Declan all the best in his new home and will
provide regular updates from his new owner. Pauline is absolutely
delighted having nursed him through a traumatic time. Received from
Cathy, Declan's new owner on Sunday 27 June 2004: "I went to
Pauline's Wellcat sanctuary on 21 June, looking for a quiet companion
cat.
My much loved dog died in October, at the age of 15 and I had waited 6 months to be sure I wanted another pet. I eventually decided on a cat and was pointed in Pauline's direction. So many lovely cats, any one of whom would make a lovely companion and all in need of homes. How on earth do you choose? After a lot of agonizing (and a cup of tea) I eventually chose Declan.
He seemed to be quiet, laid-back and friendly,
in spite of all he had been through and yet was in danger of being
overlooked by potential owners because of his FIV status. He was also
having to be confined mostly to his pen due to the risk of
infection that the other cats might pose
to him and he particularly needed to go to an indoor home - away from
other cats. I hoped my flat would be to his liking. One week on and
he has settled in really well - after thoroughly exploring every
inch. He likes a lot of fuss and attention (and a bit of ham and
chicken) and he loves racing around madly chasing his toys; rolling
about, purring in a patch of sunlight or just sitting peacefully on
the windowsill watching the world go by. As he will never be able to
go outside or socialise with other cats, I try to compensate by,
well, spoiling him! He is a wonderful friend and a real character. I
love him dearly. He makes me laugh, he is very affectionate and has
bought morning lie-ins to an end! I would like to say a big 'thank
you' to Pauline for trusting him with me, I know she was very sad to
see him go, having been through so much with him.
I now have the easy part." Wellcat would like to thank Cathy for this e-mail and hope she and Declan have many happy years ahead.
There are no new mature cats available for the moment, although we have plenty of feral cats that need a good home.
