Concorde's Diary: What Fun!
A Day and Night of Fun
I only went and fell for it didn't I? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Got stuck in the damned trap and even worse…I was taken in the house. No matter how much I hissed and spat and growled, they didn't let me out.
Sunday really did start off my day from HELL. The man (Dennis) who keeps trying to take my picture was back AGAIN and I couldn't launch at him today because of this stupid metal cage. I thought they were rubbing my nose in it. Some humans came, like they always do. I just assumed that once again, they would choose some cute kitty-cat. But they didn't. They took ME! I was stunned - so stunned that I shut up and forgot about my macho image and my growling. They put me in a car but I wasn't scared *brave*. Then on top of my cage they put some other boxes but I didn't realise it was my dad (who they keep calling Lucifer) and my two friends (who they call Hugo and Boss) until after they'd let us out. Human 1 (Becky) let us out of the cages and we all ran as fast as we could and hid before they realised their mistake and took us back!! We had an interesting night - all those new smells, new hiding places. What fun!
We thought though that there must have been some mistake. Somehow, the Humans had been given us 4 - the longest residents at the rescue place and in my case, the most feared!! But the best was yet to come!!! In the morning, some dozy human let us out When Human 1 came, she was distraught - she must have been very upset that she couldn't take us back and swap us for kitty-cats. Boss and I hid REAL good but stupid Dad (Lucifer) and Hugo hung around in the hope of food and she caught them. Boss and I presumed she'd take them back so we were even more determined to stay hidden. Boss and I had a for a whole day and a whole night! WOW! We climbed things, we hid, we chased mice, we ate ALL the food Human 1 left us. After 2 years in a pen at the rescue place, we had a WHALE of a time.
By this morning, we were shattered and we'd scoffed all the food Human 1 left for us as midnight feasts. It's been 2 years since we ran that much and if we're honest, all that space scared us a little bit. We went back to by the first room as we knew there was food in there when we left it but Human 1 spotted us! She put us some food down. Boss and I resigned ourselves to going back. We thought that at least we'd had one day and night of fun.
But she didn't! Human 1 shooed us back into that first room and guess what?? Hugo and Dad were there. They'd spent the night sleeping and eating while me and Boss had been running around. Boy were we glad to see them! When the door shut, I realised that I hadn't even growled at the Human, I was too tired. Apparently, this is our home now but we have to wait in this room a few more days just for the Humans to prove they will feed us and won't take us back. If that's real and I'm not dreaming, I think I'm going to like it here. Maybe I'll change my ways...maybe I won't need to hiss, spit or growl…unless I spy any more of those mice…
Yours, Concorde.
