The Generosity of Sainsbury's Customers
Nick Preece and Pauline Beasley with some of the donations. Big-hearted shoppers at a Blackheath supermarket have donated thousands of pounds worth of food to a cat rescue shelter.
Quinton-based Wellcat Animal Rescue has benefited from the generosity of visitors to Sainsbury's in Halesowen Street. In the last year, a collection bin in the store has been overflowing with around £2,500 of cat food to be handed over to the shelter for neglected or abandoned cats. Pauline Beasley, who has run Wellcat for the last 16 years, said she was very grateful for all the donations from customers and staff. She said: "I have got to know some of the shoppers over the last year and there is one man who travels weekly from Wolverhampton just so he can put food in the bin. "The donated food means we can spend most of our income on vets' bills and other essential equipment." Pic ref: 370326L.
